applies from: unknown (an inserted provision states its own application date only in prose)

This entry adds a new Article 5a on European Digital Identity Wallets, which did not previously exist in the legislation.

The new article sets out obligations for Member States to provide such Wallets, describes how they may be provided, what functionalities and technical requirements they must meet, and rules on data protection, accessibility, revocation, voluntariness of use, and related implementing acts.

It further requires the Commission to adopt implementing acts by 21 November 2024 establishing reference standards and specifications for several of the requirements listed in the article.
